When is my carpet past saving?

At SERVPRO of Palm Springs and Indian Wells we often encounter situations in which a homeowner is questioning disposal of the carpet.
When is my carpet past saving?
Simply put, when the insured item cannot be returned to its original or like condition. The carpet is past saving.
Beyond stains or visual aesthetics, the carpet should cover the floor and grip the tack strips.
In this shot we see a section of carpet that has started to delaminate or separate from the fibers.
This happens because most carpets are made with water soluble glue and when exposed to a water the glue breaks down.
If this occurs, the carpet cannot be attached to the tack strips and cannot be saved.
So, beyond the visual, if we cannot re-attach it...Its time to replace your carpet.
